Simple question. On piano roll, you can create notes. They are coming was it 2-3 squares lenght. Between 1-2 (above) are 16 squares, I understand it is one full note (4 beats). Can I set up that my "create note" appears as 4 squares ( 1/4 note)?

Well, first of all what DAW are you referring to? Looking back at your previous posts apparently it's GarageBand. In GB, to determine the length of notes you pencil in, enter a note by Command-clicking and (without letting go) dragging the note to the desired length -- in your case a quarter-note. After that any notes you enter (with Command-click) will be that length. You can change the new default length at any time the same way. I've moved this thread to the GarageBand subforum. Please remember to always name the DAW you're working in (at least in the first post of a new thread), and post in the appropriate subforum when there's one available..

Thank you, it works! I have some more questions about piano roll. If you choose notes on the left, you can see below the notes' label choice "time quantize". There you can see different choices - off, 1/16 note, 1/8 note, etc. What that means? I haven't make any song yet, but I have put the notes to piano roll and chosed different options - off, 1/2 note etc, but that time quantize has no effect to my notes. For what is the time quantize, how it works and do I still need to use it if I want to make a good song? Above left are hide automation button. Does it mean it shows/unshows automation possibilities? Does I need that automation when my song is ready for mixing or what that automation for? Next automation button is catch playhead button. Why I need to catch playhead?

MIDI is a digital communication protocol for transmitting notes [& other performance data] from your keyboard to the DAW [GarageBand]. When you see those bars in the [green] Regions [on a Software Instrument track] that represent notes, those are MIDI note data. Performance data from the wheels and sliders on your MIDI keyboard are the lines & curves you might see [if there is any such data in that track] when you display MIDI Automation. You suggested that I can create a default length of notes by command click and dragging the note to what length I want and then all other notes will be created by the same default length. It was so in one project, but not here. I did, got the certain length, and then decided to just grab from the edge to change a length ( of that note, not all the notes). Well, after that all my "default" notes were creating by "new" length. But that "new" one is just a change of length of that one note, not all the others notes. The "new" length appeared as with cmd so with right click. What is wrong? It's normal, that the song consist of different length of notes...

Yes, that's normal, if you edit the length of any note, the next new notes you enter will take on that length.

That's bad. So if I have put by default 1/4 note and need that most of notes in the song would be 1/4, but meanwhile I need some bigger/smaller notes, so I need to put after bigger/smaller ones again to 1/4 length.. ? Not just get automatically 1/4 as preferred notes.. ? Can't I set up 1/4 for default, not matter, have I changed notes meanwhile, or not?

Apparently not, GB seems to always take on the length of the last edited note. It doesn't seem like a big deal -- if you want to manually enter a slew of notes of a particular length, just enter the first one, drag it to the desired length, and then enter the rest. Alternatively, you could play the notes in in realtime from a MIDI keyboard (as most people do), and then GB would simply record the length of the notes as played.
